Century currently markets its products through specialized F&I (Finance & Insurance) Agencies that have relationships with car dealerships around the United States.

Accounting Supervisor

*Must possess 4 - 6 years of Accounting Lead or Supervisory experience - Reinsurance experience is a plus!*

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MT in our Albuquerque Office; hybrid after training

This position pays $85K - $90K to start (DOE), with comprehensive benefits as of Day One.

Job Summary

Responsible for supervising the accounting, administration, regulatory and other ad hoc reporting requirements of Century’s portfolio of individual producer-owned reinsurance companies/auto dealer participation programs (RICs). Manage liaison with corporate tax department to facilitate preparation of portfolio’s annual tax returns.Supervise and maintain accounting controls and processes. Reporting to the Director of Reinsurance Relations, the successful candidate will supervise, mentor and develop a team of reinsurance accountants. This role requires leadership ability, excellent customer service skills, experience with general ledger computer packages, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills - pivot tables, and complex formulas. A thorough knowledge of all applicable accounting and reporting requirements is desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and participate in periodic accounting and reporting functions for the RICs, prepare adjusting journal entries and account reconciliations.

  • Supervise the preparation of annual and as-needed financial reporting for numerous RICs.

  • As needed, provide information for RICs to support monthly funding of RIC trusts.

  • Manage the internal, external, and reinsurer audits process to ensure accuracy of data provided for review and resolution of audit issues.

  • Lead or assist with special projects, system enhancements, testing, data pulls, and ad hoc reporting requests as needed.

  • Primary contact for both internal and external customers for reinsurance related questions.

Adheres to Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Human Resources Policy Guide.

Follows departmental and functional area standards, rules, guidelines, processes and policies as identified by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 4 – 6 years (or Associate’s Degree and 6 – 8 years) of professional level knowledge in the specialized field, or equivalent related experience, preferred. This may be flexible based on experience profile.

Knowledge: General knowledge of the vehicle service contract industry, practices, standards, and concepts within related operations and field of work is strongly desired. Familiarity with management practices.

Decision Making: Typically makes decisions that impact short-term results. Interprets and executes policies and guidelines set by higher level management. Determines how to meet schedules, allocating resources. Typically makes operational decisions independently. Recommends modifications to operating policies. Problems are generally diverse and may impact multiple units.

Supervision Received: Assignments are both task and objective oriented. Work is reviewed for unit's overall adequacy in accomplishing objectives.

Leadership: First level supervisor who typically manages exempt employees and/or non-exempt employees REMOVED SUBORDINATE LEVEL SUPERVISORS. Direct reports typically exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. Provides direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance. Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.

Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Advises work unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Hands-on involvement in day-to-day operations and provides ongoing directiononly when required to resolve complex problems or meet deadlines.

Client Contacts: Frequent contact with internal and external parties at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling project phases. Communication typically involves persuasion, and negotiation with middle management levels. May interface with senior management.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be able to exhibit good judgment regarding business decisions relative to the accounting personnel in the areas of supervising, hiring, promoting, discipline and terminating of employees.

Must be able to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while ensuring that the department remains adaptable in a fast-paced environment with continually changing priorities.

Requires interaction with senior management as well as other internal and external customers; build rapport and direct others to utilize innovative decision-making skills. Proficient oral and written communication skills are required.

Physical Components

  • Manual dexterity to operate various pieces of office equipment efficiently.

  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift light objects.

  • Ability to effectively communicate on the telephone and in person.
