Nou Systems, Inc. Undergraduate Intern – Environmental Sciences Concentration in Huntsville, Alabama

We are pleased to announce openings for Undergraduate Student Internships as part of our nSIGHT (nSI Student Internship to Gain High-tech Training) program. nSIGHT interns will have the opportunity to join our team in the Los Angeles Metro area and gain experience in our rapidly growing technology company operating in space and missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, and biotechnology marketspaces.

nSIGHT offers positions for student interns that will occur either during the summer, a single semester or year-round, and each intern’s experience could be different depending on the area they support. At the culmination of your Environmental Sciences/Engineering Internship, you will emerge more equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in your field. Your internship experience will empower you to perform critical research, confidently tackle complex design challenges, approach problem-solving with precision, improve as a presenter, and take on leadership roles. With the potential for a future permanent role on our team, you'll be poised to continue your journey in Environmental Sciences/Engineering with confidence and expertise.

Responsibilities:

As an Environmental Sciences Intern, you'll work closely with experienced professionals to contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions in the environmental sciences and engineering areas. Your responsibilities will include customer discovery, research, problem-solving, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the applicability of our capabilities to urgent environmental problems. You'll have opportunities for continuous learning and growth, with access to resources and support to expand your skills and expertise. By the end of your internship, you'll emerge as a proficient environmental researcher, and think like an entrepreneur, ready to take on new challenges and contribute to our team's success.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current active status as a student in high school or college

  • A GPA of 3.75 or higher

  • Knowledge of basic concepts, practices, and procedures within environmental sciences and/or engineering

  • Strong passion for our environment and interest in identifying issues and solutions to protect humanity, wildlife, and/or plant life on land and in our oceans

  • Self-motivated and proactive at performing research, giving presentations, coordinating team meetings, and other tasks

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

  • You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Application of engineering principles and scientific investigative techniques to support planning, analysis, assessment, and reporting activities to accomplish customer requirements (job, lab, or club experience)

  • Familiar with environmental issues and challenges facing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Department of Energy (DOE), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and other US agencies

  • Relevant Coursework (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering courses, Ecology)
