APIC Platform Administrator

The APIC Platform Administrator (IT Solutions Engineer/Analyst Senior) is responsible for software and hardware product delivery and performance for all application spaces including next generation technology such as cloud engineering and mobile applications. Drives products from design completion to volume production release through lifecycle including troubleshooting software and system problems to ensure performance and reliability.

  • Perform installations and upgrades of OpenShift 4.x clusters on VMware using the OpenShift Data Foundation storage provider.

  • Install, configure, and maintain IBM API Connect 10.0.x infrastructure in a clustered environment (OpenShift clusters), ensuring high availability and load balancing for APIs.

  • Manage API Connect configuration and deployment.

  • Ensure that the technologies and platform versions are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications that meet enterprise standards and security standards.

  • Work closely with network and security teams to integrate API Connect into the existing infrastructure and enforce security best practices.

  • Collaborate with Cyber Security and development teams to design and implement API policies and security configurations API Connect, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and enforcing API governance.

  • Manage and maintain certificates, cryptographic objects, and security configurations across the platform.

  • Implement API security and access controls.

  • Perform day-to-day tasks managing and monitoring OpenShift and API Connect. This includes On-Call duties responding to incidents and problem calls.

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related API Connect, API traffic, and overall system health.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to API Connect

  • Manage and update code repositories in both GitLab and Azure.

  • Perform troubleshooting via log analysis in OpenShift ad API Connect.

  • Deploy APIs and UDPs deployments in API Connect using CI/CD tooling.

  • Assist in capacity planning and scalability efforts to accommodate future API growth and traffic demands.

  • Develop and maintain documentation related to API Connect setup, troubleshooting procedures, and administration.

  • Conduct performance analysis and optimization of APIs

  • Support and Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and exercises.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field and 7 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

  • Requires advanced in-depth level of technical knowledge within a job area and working knowledge of other technical areas

    Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience with IBM API Connect administration, including deployment, configuration, and monitoring.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Docker

  • 5+ years of experience in:

  • Installation, administration, and troubleshooting of the following:

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.x

  • Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation

  • IBM API Connect on OpenShift or Kubernetes: Experience with two-data-center deployments is desired.

  • Shell

    Additional Skills

  • Familiarity with managing container images in Artifactory.

  • Experience managing Linux-based virtual machines running under VMware.

  • Experience managing declarative configurations using YAML and JSON

  • Familiarity integrating with PING for OAuth implementation.

2) Researches and suggests new technologies to improve application performance

3) Provides technical expertise in developing architectural frameworks

4) Provides architectural support for application development, enhancement configuration, and migration

5) Maintains documentation for system architecture for reference purposes

6) Designs and develops new integrations as required

7) Serves as a recognized engineering expert and defines solution requirements based on industry trends and new technologies

8) Identifies, creates and tests prototypes and innovative systems related to solution engineering through internal knowledge, experience, and market insights

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company's. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.

  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
