Truck Driver

Job Responsibilities:H. B Fleming truck drivers are required to load, unload and transport various types of heavy equipment, and construction materials to/from our shop and various jobsites throughout the State of Maine and New England. The position requires experience loading low and high beds and making sure that those loads are safely secured.

Key Result Areas:

Transport heavy equipment and construction materials to and from job sites, shops and/or yards.

Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.

Ensure that the load is permitted when necessary, and follow all permit rules and regulations without exception.

Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.

Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.

Maneuver trucks and trailers into loading or unloading positions.

Communicate with office and field staff to ensure proper timing of deliveries.

Report defects, accidents, or violations.

Inspect and maintain the vehicle to ensure it\'s in good condition.

Perform regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks.

Adhere to traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.

Complete delivery paperwork and keep accurate delivery logs.

Coordinate deliveries: The driver may need to coordinate deliveries within a specific timeframe and ensure that materials and equipment are delivered to the correct job site.

Operate Lowbed trailer safely and efficiently on public highways representing the company in a professional manner.

Report all equipment malfunctions to maintenance staff.

Strap & Chain the load safely and securely

Qualifications and Skills:

In-depth working knowledge of construction procedures (piledriving, cofferdam, shoring, tiebacks, trestle, drilling, ground improvement, etc.), equipment, tooling and standards of performance.

In-depth working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and compliance.

Ability to read/interpret drawings, plans and sketches.

Excellent organization and leadership skills.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Strong ability to communicate and report effectively.

High aptitude in math reasoning.

Good physical condition and stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.

Valid commercial drivers license (CDL)

Clean driving record

Willingness and ability to operate or drive other construction vehicles/equipment (i.e., trailer dump, triaxle, water truck etc.) during downtime is required.

Frequently work more than 40 hours per week with flexible work hours

Ability to operate equipment for loading and unloading with little or no supervision several times daily.

Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.

Basic math and record-keeping skills

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Familiarity with safety regulations and laws

Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member.

Experience driving large vehicles.

Reliable, self-motivated, safety conscience.

Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more.

Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Ability to obtain and maintain a current DOT Medical Card.

Ability to safely climb up and on trucks and loads.

Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.

Ability to properly secure cargo using chains and load binding devices on equipment.

Ability to Perform daily pre and post trip inspections.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Proven work experience as a high/low bed truck driver

Ability to drive l ng hours
