Department Overview

TD Legal is a team dedicated to providing legal advice and counsel to all TD business segments (Retail, Wealth, Insurance, Wholesale, Business Banking) as well as the Corporate Functions including Corporate Development, Enterprise Real Estate, Strategic Sourcing, Treasury, Global Anti-Money Laundering and Enterprise Technology & Shared Services).

The Senior Manager – Legal Knowledge Management and Strategic Enablement will lead and execute on an innovative Legal KM strategy to connect people to the knowledge that they need to perform, and to support and enable the TD Legal department in executing with excellence.

Depth & Scope

This position will be part of the Knowledge Management and Strategic Enablement Team (KMSE) and will work with all legal Practice Groups and help drive TD Legal's strategy and priorities. The successful candidate will be a seasoned program manager who is able to handle a high level of complexity, be confident in their problem-solving and project management abilities, communicate effectively with attorneys, technologists, and executives, and excel in leading change.

Accountabilities

Coordinate and spearhead initiatives within the KMSE group to streamline processes for the legal department.

Serve as the primary executor of KMSE initiatives, ensuring their successful implementation and integration into existing workflows.

Propose potential changes to the policies and processes of the organization, leveraging best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the legal department.

Together with KMSE AVP, set vision and strategy for a transformational and best in class Knowledge Management program within a corporate legal department.

Manage resources, tools and processes for end-to-end execution and enablement of the knowledge management strategy, and KMSE's overall vision.

Drive strategic goals, detailed program workplans and implementation roadmaps; define and track key performance indicators as measures of success.

Raise awareness and highlight the value of the Legal department's Knowledge Management program; increase engagement and use of the Knowledge Management tool and information resources; foster a knowledge-sharing culture.

Leverage technological or operational solutions to improve organizational knowledge use and access.

Build out a robust content library, continuously updated with well-curated content.

Assist in change management efforts by providing support, guidance, and training to team members to facilitate the adoption of new practices and technologies.

Enhance attorneys' ability to provide excellent legal advice and mitigate risk through effective use of legal knowledge assets, and other enabling tools, processes and systems.

Leverage knowledge management capabilities to enhance and optimize TD Legal's internal governance and control programs and other strategic legal operation competencies.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience

Bachelor's degree required.

JD or LLB or LLM or extensive experience preferred.

It is not required to be admitted to practice law in Ontario or any Canadian province.

5 years relevant experience in a corporate legal department, law firm or relevant operational management role, with expertise in the field of Knowledge Management.

Previous experience in writing policies, procedures and documentation, preferable within a legal or regulatory environment.

Strong leadership, management, and communication skills, both written and oral.

Tech-savvy and well-versed in legal enterprise software, tools, and applications including advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Demonstrated ability to independently deliver initiatives on multiple workstreams concurrently using change management practices to facilitate transitions related to technology, processes, and people.

Enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with a strong interest in learning, creating efficient processes and a seamless user experience.

Strategic decision making, sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills required and proven track record in collaborating with diverse stakeholders and influencing change.

Attention to detail and accuracy in writing and reviewing policies and documents.

Highest personal & professional integrity & standards

Ability to build relationships.
