Substance Prevention Educator

[Position Overview: Parents Resource Institute for Drug Education (P.R.I.D.E. of Tuscaloosa) has an exciting opportunity for a Substance Prevention Educator to coordinate and manage prevention services designed to reduce substance abuse in the West Alabama community. This position will work with P.R.I.D.E. of Tuscaloosa staff to develop and provide mutually beneficial programs regarding the opioid epidemic, underage drinking, marijuana use, complete tasks designated by the Alabama Department of Mental Health, use methods and instruments for collecting valid and reliable data, deliver an effective substance abuse prevention education curriculum to students, plan and implement a media campaign, report on program performance, and apply strategies to improve outcomes.

Substance Prevention Educator We are looking for anoutgoing, enthusiastic, creative, confident, and positiveindividual who wants to make a difference in the lives of the people in our community. Applicants must have a passion for the substance abuse field and basic knowledge of drugs and drug culture. A minimum of a bachelors degree or be in pursuit of a bachelors degreein public health, marketing, education, social work, psychology, or related field is preferred.

Proven leadership and project management experience a must.

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations of colleagues and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted through the course of work

Implementation of effective prevention strategies

Ability to speak publicly including giving presentations, facilitating meetings, and representing the organization in social settings.

Work independently under limited supervision and organize multiple work assignments

Collect and report on work as required by the organization and the Department of Mental Health.
